Several major trends are happening in the transportation and mobility industry right now and one of those trends is the development of electric, connected and autonomous vehicles. Dassault Systèmes’ SIMULIA brand is largely focused on these vehicles and their development, particularly the electric powertrain aspects – battery, electric drive and power electronics.
Power electronics manage the transfer of electrical energy from the battery to other vehicle components, such as low-voltage subsystems. Power electronics present several design challenges, which are the focus of an upcoming webinar presented by Dassault Systèmes and SAE International, “Design and Simulation of an Inverter Power Module for Electric Vehicles.”
This webinar focuses on the specific challenges involved in the design of a three-phase power inverter – challenges inherent to power electronics overall. It is led by Fabien Letailleur, Senior Manager, Transportation and Mobility Initiatives for Dassault Systèmes, and Krishna Gundu, Senior Industry Solutions Manager, Dassault Systèmes.
Fabien and Krishna will take attendees through the various steps required in the design and simulation of a three-phase power inverter, beginning with the CAD model and progressing through parasitics extraction, thermal and electrical characterization, thermal management and EMC compliance. The webinar points out the benefits of simulation for these types of complex systems, including the ease with which designs can be changed once they are in the 3D modeling stage.
Attendees will also learn about how various technologies can be connected, including 1D circuit solvers, 1D system solvers, stress/fatigue/CFD/electromagnetic 3D solvers, co-simulation between 1D and 3D solvers, and a dedicated 1D electrical powertrain library.
This free webinar begins at 10 AM EST on March 5th, and will be available as a recording for those who cannot attend at that time. A question and answer session will take place immediately following the presentation.
