A Smart Way to Create Innovative and Efficient Ducts
Tosca Fluid features unique design and non-parametric fluid flow topology optimization technology for components and systems.
This eSeminar (in the SIMULIA Learning Community) gives an introduction to flow topology optimization technology and provide details on functionalities and features available in the latest release of Tosca Fluid. If you’re accessing the Learning Community for the first time, you’ll be asked to create an account—all you need is an email address!
eSeminar Takeaways
- Understand the idea of flow topology optimization
- Learn that topology optimization permits a time-efficient creation of new innovative duct designs with high flow performance
- Understand optimization as a smart alternative to the conventional design process
- See how Tosca Fluid enables the analyst to contribute to design creation process from scratch
- See Tosca Fluid as an important part of the SIMULIA Extended Packaging to accelerate the overall design process
Key Questions
Q: Could you explain the topology optimization algorithm that it uses? Do you have options to pick which algorithm to use?
Q: Can you couple Tosca Fluid and Tosca Structure?
Q: What would happen if you take the CAD redesign & verification CFD analysis and use this as a new Design Space for a 2nd TOSCA analysis? Would the results be the same as the 1st run?
Q: Can Tosca Fluid work with Abaqus CFD?
Q: You have talked about stopping optimization once optimization is converged. Is there any automatic way to judge optimization is converged?
Q: Tosca eliminates flow re-circulation by blocking backflow areas. If there isn’t full re-circulation is Tosca able to straighten the flow field? Is this adjusted with the backflow tolerance in the optimization parameters?
Q: Are the results stored as a variable in the Fluent results? If so, what is the “sedimentation variable” name?
Q: How does optimization with Fluent compare to STAR opt?
Q: Has Tosca Fluid been used with Isight to not only optimize to reduce re-circulation but to optimize inlets and outlets to possibly consider temperature reduction of a component in the fluid flow.
Q: I use EnSight for all of my post-processing, CFD/FEA/others. Can I read the results in EnSight? I can read in Fluent results, and create an iso surface based upon a variable.
Presenter
Dr. Jens Iseler – SIMULIA Optimization Senior Technical Sales Specialist
Dr. Iseler has been associated with Dassault Systemes for the past 4 years. In his current role he works closely and assists sales in all Tosca Fluid engagements. He is responsible for conducting training, and he handles technical support and other technology enablement programs related to Tosca Fluid and Extended Packaging. Prior to joining Dassault, he worked at ABB Mannheim in the field of power and at Institute of Jet Propulsion, University Munich. Dr. Iseler studied physics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
