The digital revolution in aviation manufacturing highlighted at Farnborough Airshow 2018

On Thursday, July 19, Dassault Systèmes will present an Executive Manufacturing Roundtable on Manufacturing Agility, at 12:00pm to 2pm.  This invitation-only event will happen in the Dassault Systèmes Chalet.  There are a few seats available because of a cancellation. Request your invitation via email.

Panelists will include:

  • Anthony Velocci, former Editor in Chief, Aviation Week & Space Technology
  • Ivan Madera, CEO, Morf3D, Additive Design and Manufacturing supplier
  • Marc Saunders, Director, Global Solutions Centres, Renishaw, 3D Printing equipment

Join this candid discussion on improving manufacturing agility. Consider questions like:

  • How might OEMs and suppliers strengthen their joint capabilities and technology innovations to significantly improve performance
  • What critical technologies help competitiveness?
  • How can companies’ value network adopt and make the best use of new manufacturing technologies?

Also on Thursday, July 19, attend the panel session: Aerospace 4.0 PANEL: Tech in aerospace – influences, challenges & trends. Join Enrico Scharlock, Aerospace & Defense Solution Experience Director, Dassault Systèmes, Pablo Wangermann, DXC Technology Torsten Welte, SAP and David McMullen, Aviation Week Network as they discuss topics such as: manufacturing agility and automation; digital continuity; the 3DEXPERIENCE twin; innovation; additive manufacturing; and the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace.

No registration required to attend this complimentary session.  Plan to attend for in-depth discussions and ideas to implement your digital revolution. INSIGHT THEATRE | HALL 4 |12:30pm. Stop by and say hello to Enrico. He works with Dassault Systemes’ global customer base, focusing on manufacturing challenges. He’s worked on process planning and manufacturing for Boeing, Airbus and dozens of other companies.

Future Factory technology and the aviation backlog

With an eight-year backlog in commercial aviation orders, that’s predicted to double over the next 20 years, improving production rates is a high priority for aviation manufacturers and their suppliers.

Manufacturing is in the middle of a technology revolution, with the expanding use of sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), and digitalization integrating development and manufacturing processes from a patchwork of isolated activities into interconnected systems. Add advances in robotics, materials science and additive manufacturing, and companies anticipate measurable benefits in production and efficiency.

To get there, companies know they must to identify and overcome many challenges. Just the sheer volume of IoT data generated by people, devices and machines will require a unified digital architecture for data analysis and decision-making. Read aerospace expert, Tony Velocci’s paper Factory of the Future for ways how companies are implementing their future factory technology. (Tony is part of tomorrow’s Executive Roundtable.)

One thing is certain: the aerospace manufacturing landscape faces dramatic change. Aerospace companies joining us this week at Farnborough seek to understand what’s driving these changes and how digital transformations will impact their future. Many are in the middle of the journey, resolving the answers to questions like:

  • How will the factory of the future align with my business processes?
  • What is my blueprint for the future?
  • How do I stack up versus the competition?
  • What are the business risks of maintaining the status quo versus accelerating changes?

We at Dassault Systèmes look forward to joining you on this digital revolution, part of the Industry Renaissance.
